Merry Mix Recipe

This is seriously one of my favorite holiday snack recipes, although you could really make it any time of year (dang, why haven't I thought of that before now!?). Even though this is really just traditional "Chex Mix," my Grandma makes this ever year at Christmas and she's always called it "Merry Mix." SO, for our family the name has stuck.

Making your own tastes so much better than pre-made bagged option, and this is such a great little snack to have on hand for guests because you can make a big batch and store it in a cute decorative tin or even just in a giant ziplock bag.

"Merry" Mix
3 cups corn Chex cereal
3 cups rice Chex cereal
3 cupes wheat Chex cereal
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup pretzels (I like the stick pretzels for this the best!)
6 tablespoons melted butter
2 TBL Worchestershire sauce
2 tsp salt seasoning (I like Johnny's!)
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder

Put all cereals, nuts and pretzels into a microwave-safe bowl and set aside. Melt the butter and add in seasonings, stirring together until combined. Then slowly add butter mixture to cereal mixture, mixing well with a spatula. Microwave on high for 5-6 minutes, stopping to stir every 2 minutes or so (beware burning at the bottom!). Let cool on paper towels. Once cool, store in an air-tight container. You can also do it in the oven at 250 or so, spread in a thin layer on a cookie sheet, for about 60 minutes, stopping every 15 to stir thoroughly. I've also seen recipes where you can do this in the crock pot, but I haven't tried that version yet.
