Christmas Week

Christmas week is finally here! We had a great weekend with family and friends and are excited for the many other events this week will bring. Here's what we were up to this weekend!

Friday night, my BFF Tanya came home for Christmas so we had a special dinner out! I n-e-v-e-r go out to dinner on a Friday night anymore (unless we have a babysitter), so it was a fun treat! I felt bad for Grant, who stayed home and ate a frozen burrito on the couch, but we had a great time! We went to a local wine bar and both ordered "Bubbles Flights," which included three different champagnes. Perfect way to start the weekend! I also got a delicious grain salad with spinach, farro, lentils and quinoa. Yum! (And semi-healthy, right?!).

Saturday was the "Goodall" Christmas. Unfortunately, Grant's parents (who own their own business) were called out of town on a last-minute work trip, so they had to miss out. Vicki and Karl are going to Arizona for Christmas, so we decided to celebrate early. Vicki made a delicious Italian feast, and we opened gifts.

For dessert, I'd ALWAYS wanted to make a Bouche de Noel cake. But, I decided it'd be easier to buy so I ordered one from the French bakery by our house. It was SO cute, with little meringue snowmen and mushrooms, candied cranberries and rosemary touches. However, it didn't taste nearly as great as it looked, which was really disappointing, but I guess cuteness counts, right?

After all of our feasting we took a traditional "Seattle" walk by the lake - in the pouring rain. And it wasn't just raining, it was the crazy sideways, blowing rain. Lovely.

Sunday, Tanya was back over for our traditional Gingerbread house crafting. Lila even got to make her own this year!

Looking forward to the holiday week!!
